Mara

Hospital Mascot

I came to Dansville Animal Hospital for my first kitten visit. Before arriving, I had spent a good portion of my young kittenhood searching for a home. While at my first visit, Dr. Maloco fell in love with me and from that day forward I began to call the clinic my home. I now spend my days greeting customers both feline and canine with open paws. I especially enjoy meeting clients and their feline companions in the reception area. At first, I was a bit squeamish around clients who bark and growl, but now I will gladly meet them at the door with a gentle tail swoosh. Everyone at the clinic enjoys my company and I cannot wait to greet them for work in the morning. I help front desk staff get motivated by attempting to support clients over the phone, however, sometimes I get a bit too excited and press the wrong keys. During my childhood, I spent a lot of time in the reception area getting acquainted to my surroundings and making sure I didn’t cause any kitty shenanigans. Now that I’m older and have outgrown my terrible two’s, I spend the day traveling throughout the clinic lending a helpful paw wherever needed. Although my title is office greater, I also have a duty to ensure appointments go smoothly throughout the day. I greet the clients, show them to their exam room, and console their anxiety with cheerful chirps, meows, and licks. Occasionally I also assist the technicians with blood-draws by laying with the patient. I feel that my presence helps make them feel more relaxed, but the staff doesn’t always feel my techniques are beneficial. If I get a bit too involved with my assistant duties, staff members distract me with cotton swabs, a running faucet, or simply ask me nicely to go see what I can assist with in the reception area. On surgery days, the clinic is full of patients who need emotional support recovering, and I am just the right furry friend for the job! I listen to their complaints and ease their pain with a gentle purr. Although I am dedicated to my duties throughout the day, when my automatic feeder goes off I must break for a snack. I get to spend my day’s making new friends, catching up with old ones, and experiencing unique circumstances that most cats can only dream of during a midday catnap. I truly have the best life living here at Dansville Animal Hospital!

Iris

In Loving Memory

Iris was with us for almost 6 years, and we certainly miss being greeted by her sweet face in the morning and seeing her scoot all over the hospital on her two and half legs. Iris had many health battles, but she was always such a happy girl. Even tough she is no longer with us, we have so many wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. She taught us how to appreciate life, even during difficult times. She taught us to be thankful, to be kind, to persevere, and to love. She knew no boundaries when it came to reaching out to staff who needed purring comfort. We love you tough momma cat! In loving memory, Iris 2014-2021
