OFFICE "MASCOT"
IRIS

This sweet kitty cat will sit at your feet and meow until you pet (or feed) her. She loves to be a part of staff meetings and knows that they are solely for the purpose of recognizing her. Iris came to us as a young pregnant cat, who we suspect was hit by a car (but don’t know for certain). Unfortunately, her babies could not be saved and her left leg needed to be amputated, but her life was spared. Her right hind leg is also partially paralyzed but she’s able to use it for balancing and pushing herself forward. Would you believe she still manages to get herself up into chairs, on top of boxes, and into kennels? Not only that, she can take off like a rocket and scoots down the hallways at mach 4! Iris teaches us so much about perseverance and adaptation. Not only conquering pain and injury, losing her pregnancy, recovering from major surgery, she learned a new way to walk and function, and how to take daily medications… that’s a lot to overcome. She’s a fighter for sure and her feisty little calico attitude is well suited to her. We love Iris a lot and are thankful to have her little cute self with us here at DAH.
